Projection: need to automatically qualify

Cal Baptist’s résumé carries a clear arc: the program has proven it can win away from home with road victories at Oregon State and UC Irvine and backed that up with a clean neutral-site triumph over San Diego, but those signature highs are offset by a lopsided neutral loss to BYU and a road setback at Colorado that expose how it struggles against top-tier opposition. The bulk of the remaining schedule gives the team plenty of redemption opportunities, from the hostile trip to Utah and a road test at Eastern Washington to the conference gauntlet that includes visits to Utah Valley, UT Arlington and Tarleton State and home dates with Utah Tech and Southern Utah. If Cal Baptist takes care of the winnable conference games and shows it can compete on the tougher road trips, the blemishes from BYU and Colorado will fade; if it stumbles in league play or drops the Utah road game, those earlier losses will loom much larger.
